Piedras Biodiversity Station provides an ideal base for both long-term MSc and PhD studies or short term expeditions, undergraduate or amateur research projects. One of our principle aims is to understand tropical rainforest ecology and to use the knowledge gained from research to promote conservation and education, thereby making an active contribution towards a sustainable biosphere. In order to help achieve this we invite researchers and student groups to initiate and conduct fieldwork at our station. Manu National Park, located in southeastern Peru, is one of the largest parks in South America. The area of the park encompasses parts of the Andean department of Cusco and the jungle department of Madre de Dios. Manu protects over 2 million hectares (4.5 million acres) of territory rich in flora and fauna species in a variety of habitats including high Andes, cloud forests, and lowland tropical rain forests. UNESCO officially recognizes this natural paradise as a world heritage site. In 1977 they designated Manu as a World Biosphere Reserve because it contains the best existing example of biodiversity in protected areas of rain forest, as well as endemic areas of cloud forest.

Inti Raymi in Cusco 5 Days / 4 Nights (US$ 352.00)

Discover the andean world, visit the capital of the inca`s empire: Cusco, Inca´s Sacred valley and wonderful citadel of Machupicchu with overnight. Inti Raymi (Fest.of the Sun) is represented on the stage of Saqsaywaman fortress starting with small ceremonies held in the courtyard of Koricancha Temple and the Main Square of Cusco, called the Haukaypata, from which, the royal followers go to the slope of the fortress every June. Each year special stands are built for the visitors that can reach about 100 000 on that day. Local people sit around the complex to watch the ceremony.
