ITINERARY
DAY 1: Arrival in Lima
On arrival in Lima and transfer to hotel. Free time to rest and prepare to begin your journey through this wonderful country.
DAY 2: Lima and Larco Herrera Museum visit
In the morning, guided tour of landmarks and attractions of Lima, the "City of Kings." The tour includes Lima's Historical Center, panoramic view of the Plaza San Martín, Plaza Mayor, Government Palace, Cathedral, Archbishop's Palace, Municipal Palace, Church of Santo Domingo, where the tombs of Santa Rosa and San Martin de Porres, and Lima's Colonial Balconies. For an excellent introduction to Peru's past, we continue our journey towards the district of Pueblo Libre to visit the Museo Larco Herrera, considered the museum with the largest private collection of pre-Columbian Peruvian art. This exhibit shows examples of textiles, one of which has a record breaking 398 threads per inch, and tools used by ancient Peruvians for their work in ceramics and metal. It also has a collection of ceramics, gold and silver with precious stones belonging to various Pre-Inca and Inca of Peru. Finally, tour the residential districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, passing by the Huaca Pucllana, ceremonial and administrative center of Lima Culture built in the second century AD and considered by the Incas as Ñaupallaqta, "Holy People"; park El Olivar de San Isidro, with olives brought from Spain in the fifteenth century, the Central Park of Miraflores and Larco Mar, a tourist and entertainment center, a symbol of modern Lima and vantage point to enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. Return to hotel in Lima.
DAY 3: Pachacamac
After breakfast, embark on a 45 minute drive to the ancient pilgrimage center of pre-Columbian Pachacamac overlooking the fertile valley of Lurin and the Pacific Ocean. The temple built 700 BCE to worship the Sun God is made almost entirely of mud bricks, and consists of an oracle, a group of temples, rooms and catacombs, which were recently restored. It is considered that was a major ceremonial centers of pre-Inca era. Pilgrims flocked here from far away to worship Pachacamac, the creator of the world and its creatures. The best preserved is the section Inca. Visit the museum that houses an interesting collection of pre-Hispanic relics. In the afternoon return to your hotel.
DAY 4: Lima
Assistance and transfer to your departure from Lima.
