Along the way passengers will have the chance to see snow capes, feeling close to the snowy summit of Salkantay, tropical fruit plants, farms, traditional Andean communities and the inheritance of ancient civilizations. This tour is the perfect circuit to explore isolated areas and experience the essence of the Andes in a traditional non-touristic way.
The group will be picked up at the hotels to travel by bus for 4hrs. Later we will reach Mollepata, where we will get together with our horsemen and horses that carry the camping equipment. In this area it is possible to see the beautiful snow-capped peak of Salkantay. Afterwards we will hike for 4hrs. ascending the mountain Saillapata, at this point we will have our lunch. After lunch we will walk until reaching our next campsite Soraypampa, around 5:00pm.
Early in the morning we’ll have our breakfast and then will begin a 3hrs. trek until reaching the highest point of our expedition, The Salkantay Pass (4.600 mt.). From there, we walk down towards Wayracpunku, to have our next meal. The journey will continue going into the high jungle where we will observe large trees with their arms stretching out over the streams, all filled with bromelias and orchids. This trek will last around 5hrs. to reach our campsite in Chaullay.
After having the breakfast, we have a choice for our trek. We will either start descending through several ecological zones of nature, made up of a variety of wild trees, orchids, bromelias, etc or go by bus directly from campsite to Lucmabamba (having more time for Cocalmayo Hot springs if you desire). Otherwise, this part of the trek is one of the most beautiful parts. After 5hrs. of trekking, we will reach a zone called La Playa, where we will have lunch. Later our bus will take us for 1H15min. to the town of Lucmabamba. From there we will walk up to the Llaqtapata ruins in about 2 hours and after a short break we descend for another half hour to reach Llaqtapata lodge. *We will have dinner* at this amazing location with a breathtaking overview of Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu and free time for the rest of the day to relax, explore the area or go horse riding. Then we will have a traditional Peruvian dinner and have a good night’s rest to prepare for the following day. More Info on Llactapata Here!
The next morning, after a good breakfast we start descending for about 1.5 hours to the river Ahobamba where the bus awaits us. Those who reserved in advance will do zip lining or go to the hot springs near Santa Teresa (optional with day 3). The rest of the group will go to meeting point of Hidroelectrica where the entire group joins for the lunch after the activities. After a short break we will continue trekking for aprox. 3hrs. until arriving at the town Aguas Calientes. The group will be taken to the hotel and at night we will all get together for dinner.

After passing the control entrance around 6:00am. our group will have a private guided tour for 2hrs. in the Inca citadel, later passengers will be free to enjoy Machu Picchu on their own.
