Tours in Tambopata
Expedition to Tambopata - Bahuaja Sonene 5 Days - 4 Nights (US$ 691.00)
Type: Ecological
Our combined camping and lodge expeditions offer a longer period to really experience the wonders of the rainforest. The macaw collpa in Tambopata made famous by numerous documentaries and magazine articles is by far the most exciting place to visit along this stretch of river and due to its remote location has good wildlife viewing possibilities. We can also arrange tailor made expeditions if clients are interested in shorter or longer trips or are particularly interested in birdwatching or photography. For backpackers looking for a genuine rainforest experience but at a cheaper price we offer a lodge and camping trip to the River Piedras. It is cheaper as a peke-peke motor is used not an outboard motor thereby increasing the journey time but not effecting the quality of service.

The River Piedras represents an exciting new area for the study of tropical biology. Piedras Biodiversity Station provides an ideal base for both long-term MSc and PhD studies or short term expeditions, undergraduate or amateur research projects. One of our principle aims is to understand tropical rainforest ecology and to use the knowledge gained from research to promote conservation and education, thereby making an active contribution towards a sustainable biosphere. In order to help achieve this we invite researchers and student groups to initiate and conduct fieldwork at our station.
