Day 1: Cusco – Huayllabamba

We will pick you up from your hotel at around 7:00am to head towards the km 82 of the Inca Trail (Piscacucho) where we will begin our trek, ascending for 3 hours or for 10km, until reaching the archaeological site of Llactapata. Time will be left for relaxing and enjoying a good lunch. Then get prepared for another 30 minutes of trekking (or 1km approximately) for our next stop Huayllabamba, an isolated Andean community. In the afternoon we will get our campsite ready and around 7:00pm dinner will be made (vegetarian options are available).

Day 2: Huayllabamba - Warmiwañusca - Pacaymayo

Early in the morning we will have breakfast and get ready to continue along the trail (7:00am), ascending for approx. 4 hours (10km), to the peak of Warmiwañusca (4200mt). From here, we will observe a variety of ecosystems ranging from dry Puna (mountain grasslands) to the high jungle. After lunch, around 2:00pm, we will descend for 3 hours (9km) into the Pacaymayo Valley. We will go over wooden bridges and through tunnels making our way up and down rocky steps. We will set up camp near Pacaymayo’s river.

Day 3: Pacaymayo - Puyupatamarka - Wiñay Huayna

Completely submerged in the protected area of Pacaymayo (where it is possible to see Andean deer, local birds, etc.), we continue our journey after a delicious breakfast. For about 30 minutes we will walk before arriving at Runkuraqay’s archeological complex. We will then have an ascent at an altitude of 3,750 metres and descend to the archaeological group called Sayaqmarca (approx. 1:30 hour), an Inca citadel. After the visit we will continue further for another 15 minutes where we will have a nice lunch in the Ch'akiqocha sector, then continue, to arrive to the archeological site of Phuyupatamarca. After contemplating the area, we continue descending about two and a half hours into the inca citadel of Wiñay Huayna. We there appreciate this ancient place chosen by the Inca themself to have our camp fixed and spend our last night.

Day 4: Wiñayhuayna - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Last morning of this wonderful journey, we will get ready for 5:00am to reach Machu Picchu and after the breakfast we will hike an hour ascending through the high jungle, on the other side of the touristic entrance, to Inti Punku (The Sun’s Gate). This is an alternative access to Machu Picchu, and you will experience impressive views of the entire archaeological marvel of the area. After the arrival to Machu Picchu, there will be a 2 hour guided tour, visiting the main sites and afterwards you will have some free time to explore it yourself. Later in the afternoon, we will walk down to Aguas Calientes where we will meet our train (recommended arrival: 30 minutes before departure’s time) to Ollantaytambo. From there a private bus will bring us back to Cusco. Our tour ends there in Plaza de Armas.
